Feeling Stuck And Unmotivated? Three Questions That Can Help You Get Unstuck And Back Into Action

Feeling stuck and uncertain about what decisions you need to make in your life? Clarity helps us take action. Without clarity we feel lost and stuck in uncertainty. Let's use the analogy of planning a vacation. If you don't know where you are going to visit, you can't make the other plans needed such as transportation, lodging and activities. You need to first have your destination in place in order to plan everything else. Once you know where you want to go, the rest can fall in place. The same goes for everything else we want to plan in life.
Journaling is a powerful tool that has been a real lifesaver in my life and the lives of my clients. Our minds are filled with a jumble of thoughts. Journaling allows us to unpack our mental clutter and externally process our feelings. By writing out our thoughts and answering questions we don't usually think to ask ourselves, we can create new awareness and motivation.
Here are 3 journaling prompts that can help you get unstuck and back into action.
What do I want?
Why is this important to me?
What do I need to do in order to achieve this?
When you answer these questions honestly a plan will unfold. Knowing your "why" for what it is you want will be your motivator for when challenges arise. When you are clear on the things you need to do in order to achieve what you want, you then need to plan and take consistent action. Nothing will change in life without action.
For example, if you want to change careers, why is that important to you? Would you experience more fulfillment? If you want more money, why is that important to you? How would your life change? Knowing your why is all about understanding the benefits you would receive from the "what". Getting derailed from progress happens when we focus on the "what" and not the "why". The "why" helps us stay consistent with action that will eventually get us to the "what".
Once you are clear on these questions another great question to ask yourself is:
What can get in my way?
Getting clear on any potential distractions can help you have a plan in advance, so that can you stay on track.
